The City Of Atlantis, Ibis Isle in Palm Beach and the southern end of Manalapan Island are all public roadways. No need to answer questions at the guardhouses. If they persist? Roll up your windows, call 911 from your car and when police arrive? Explain that you have been illegally detained and wish to file charges on "The Gatekeeper"…

I had the exact same thing happen to me in Ft Lauderdale Fl. The cops had my car towed and none of them had any idea what Tow Company took it. I spent 16hrs trying to find my car and then it magically appeared… "sometimes it takes a while to get the paperwork around to the right channels." Then they refused to release it without the title and registration (which was in the car). "We can't allow you near the car without proof it belongs to you."
So, it took 3 days to get copies of title and registration
Faxed, Attorney fees to handle the process', connection fee, tow fee, storage fee, and $114 for a $10 Walmart tarp (the windows were down about an inch on both sides) tarp and labor fee. PLUS Taxi fees for running all over Broward County, trying to locate my car and and extra 3 days at the motel… total out of of pocket expenses, you ask?
Just a smidgen over $2300.00. This was in 1993. FML!
