I carry a 1,300 Lumin flashlight that I carry. Just shine your light in his face. It blinds their night vision and they REALLY hate it.

Engineer several strong, reflective mirrors that halo your camera, even if you have to pay a pro to fab something. They get the lights right back and you are guilt free. You didn't shine a light at them, they shined theirs at a reflective surface. You'll probably get arrested, but I think a lawyer could defend this as a camera enhancement and you never initiated getting into their light's trajectory. They approached/used one one you.

I would recommend getting one of those ridiculously bright torches for times like this. You would have every right to "Light him up" as you can say you didn't know who he was, or what he was doing, particularly if he doesn't identify. Have him seeing stars for a while.

Actually at night, people close to the fence, he has every right to shine the light on you. However, once he made contact he should have turned it off but has every right to say just because you "say" you are not doing anything wrong does not mean he "has to" believe you. To say him keeping a light on you is "disgusting" behavior is quite the stretch considering it was night time, in the back of the property by the fence. I wouldn't waste my time on the whole "shined the light to impair my camera" argument because even the judge will tell you to simply "come back during the day". But, keep up the good work!

We all know how self-important and vein cops are… Maybe, you could mount a small, high-quality, forward-facing mirror on your camera rig as a "courtesy" for the officers to see themselves as you are filming…

This could relieve them of the claims that you are "impeding" or suddenly becoming a threat by producing and holding a mirror after they light you up. If they choose to shine a beam into an already existing mirror, that's on them.😉

Florida 760.51 is the same as the California Bane Act in case no one mentioned it yet. It’s very handy to know when someone tries to obstruct your camera. Just shout this to them.
