Again, if they are ' allowed ' to get free gas from the city.. that is a taxable benefit FOIR all the employees and forward the list to the IRS..JUst like any prize worth more than 25$ is taxable as well

Sure there embezzling gas! No other department you speak to would say this is there practice city clerk has the perk of getting gas she can pay to come to work and go after work just like any other person employed you don’t get a job and have the perk oh we pay for you to come to work! Outrageous tax payers don’t pay for your use of gas and you sure are not given a vehicle to drive or have need of a public owed vehicle so we also pay for her drives to the stores or what ever else she does after work on her off time appalling

You in touch with any private community leaders? I'm not saying you shouldn't have been taken more seriously or that they should act this way but you aren't having the impact that you and the rest of us want. Perhaps a clergy member or someone with clout that would also be pissed to learn of these thefts.

Hasley said he won't comment because he is the subject of the complaint. Interesting how they suddenly follow the law and policy ONLY when they are being accused of misconduct.

I called the police a couple days ago cuz somebody that I worked for wasn't going to pay me and they were making these threats about coming over and taking my s*** so I just called the cops because I just got out of prison a couple years ago I don't want to go back and the police show up and I called for assistance okay and they show up and they tell me my address is an illegal address and all this other stuff and I'm like dude that's a lie cuz I've been registering my address with you all for the last 3 years and they didn't tell me their names so I called the female officer hun and the male officer jumped up on the f**** curb and started barking orders at me and I said man if y'all would just present your name and your badge number we wouldn't have had the situation and he says we don't have to do that it's by our discretion and I said okay I got you you need to back up I don't like the way you're presenting yourself you seem like a bully so he started running his mouth some more so I just called the sheriff's office back and had his lieutenant get a hold of me which took about 9 hours is a pain in the ass and he says oh well you can come down to the department and fill out a report so on so forth so I tell him I really don't have time to come down there right now but I made the time to go down there the next day and I got the runaround talking about I'll call you in 24 hours and it's been like 3 days and I still haven't called me with any information on the cops actions and this is Vero Beach Florida Indian River county they're supposed to be outstanding but anyways it's just really f*** up how they treat people over here

You should bring this to the attention of the town attorney and mayor/town council. If filling their tanks with gas has been a standard practice for years, the town should have been declaring the value of the gas as income to the employees. Should have gone on their W2s and both the town and the police should have been paying taxes on the "in kind" income. Both the town and the officers are liable for the back taxes, and the town could face penalties and fines as well. Your next call should be to the IRS and Social Security Administration. Think Federal whistleblowers are also eligible for a reward equal to a % of the money the gov't recovers from tax cheats – you could have a nice windfall on your hands.
